Why we built Atlas
Atlas started as SmartICS, a small project that used AI to generate study blocks around a class calendar. Its founder, Shaan Wrench, saw an opportunity to take that idea much further: one app that brings together everything a student normally has to track across a dozen different tools and spreadsheets. Mats Leis came on as advisor, helping shape the product as it grew.
Both were tired of manually building calendars, hunting down grade calculators, and cobbling together spreadsheets just to stay on top of a semester. Atlas is the simpler alternative they wished they'd had — one place to stay organized, instead of five.
